(KPL) Vientiane Province has long become a popular destination for domestic and foreign visitors and is now looking forward to welcome 900,000 visitors by the end of this year.

The province has numerous advantages including rice tourism resources, strong agricultural production, healthy natural resources, and diverse lifestyles.

Since the reopening of the country in late 2022, tourism in the province has been gradually restored, according to Mr. Bounchan Malavong, Governor of Vang Vieng District.

Last year, more than 800,000 domestic and foreign tourists visited Vientiane Province.

Of the total, more than 600,000 people visited touristy Vangvieng, and over 200,000 people visited Meuong Pheuong. The number exceeded the target set for 2023.

In Vangvieng, domestic visitors outnumbered foreign visitors. Due to the existence of the Vientiane-Vangvieng express way and the Laos-China railway, most domestic tourists tend to visit Vangvieng in the morning and get back in the evening or have just one overnight stay.

More than 800,000 tourists visited Vientiane Province last year, yielding about 553 billion kip in revenue for the province.

Today, Vangvieng has more than 150 accommodation facilities, including hotels (43), resorts, guest houses, bungalows. These can accommodate at least 13,000 visitors per day.
