(KPL) The event, themed “Discover Guangxi,” was organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangxi to mark the 65th anniversary of China–Laos diplomatic relations and the China–Laos Friendship Year.

The event was attended by Mr. Phakhanxay Sikhanxay, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Lao PDR, and Ms. Chen Yijun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Guangxi Regional Party Committee and Head of its Publicity Department, along with Lao and Chinese tourism officials and business representatives.

The event showcased Guangxi’s cultural heritage, natural attractions and tourism routes, while providing a platform for tourism businesses from both sides to exchange information and explore cooperation opportunities. Chinese artists also presented cultural performances.

Mr. Phakhanxay said the event reflected growing practical cooperation between Laos and China under the Belt and Road Initiative and contributed to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership and the Laos–China community with a shared future.

He noted that the cooperation builds on the Joint Statement on Building a Laos–China Community with a Shared Future signed during the high-level state visit in June 2026.

Guangxi, in southern China, is a major gateway for China–ASEAN cooperation and is known for its diverse cultural and natural attractions, including the karst landscapes of Guilin, Detian (Banyue) Transnational Waterfall, the Bama longevity region and Huashan Rock Art, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The promotion is expected to contribute to stronger tourism exchanges, business links and people-to-people connectivity between Guangxi and Laos.
