Lao Telecom Rakes in LAK 1.84 Billion

ຂປລ (KPL) Last year, Lao Telecom (LTC) raked in a pretax income of LAK1.84 trillion, increased by 1.8% from 2016.

(KPL) Last year, Lao Telecom (LTC) raked in a pretax income of LAK1.84 trillion, increased by 1.8% from 2016.

LTC’s net profit in 2017 was LAK381 billion and the tax the company paid to the government was LAK535.2 billion.

Lao Telecom organized its annual meeting on Feb 14 to review its business performance at its headquarter in Vientiane.

Presided over by Minister of Post and Telecommunications Thansamay Kommasith, the meeting was attended by Director General of Lao Telecom, Mr. Thavone Somsakoun, relevant officials, and representatives of LTC branches across the country.

“Last year witnessed LTC recording several achievements with US$82.8 million invested in expanding mobile broadband and fixed broadband networks. These have helped LTC attract more customers while keeping old customers satisfied with its service,” said Mr. Thavone Somsakoun.

“Based on the achievements we recorded in 2017, we have set an ambitious plan to increase the number of our customers to 3.4 million numbers, increase our income to LAK 1.98 trillion, up by 7.7% from 2017, and increase our net profit to 409.7, a 7.5% year on year rise,” said Mr Thavone.  

The company said it will invest US$50 million in expanding its mobile and internet facilities to ensure it can provide better service to local customers.
