Laos, Thailand Agree to Enhance Environmental Cooperation

ຂປລ (KPL) Laos and Thailand have agreed to strengthen the existing bilateral cooperation on natural resources and environment based on mutual interests.

(KPL) Laos and Thailand have agreed to strengthen the existing bilateral cooperation on natural resources and environment based on mutual interests.

The MoU on the cooperation was signed in Vientiane Capital on Jul 20 between Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr Sommad Pholsena and his Thai counterpart Major General Surasak Kanjanarat in the presence of high-ranking officials of both sides.

The MoU aims to strengthen the technical cooperation on the management of natural resources and environment according to the laws and national policies of the two countries through 2021.

The two countries have agreed to work together in such areas as pollution control, environmental promotion initiatives, water resources management, capacity building on climate change adaptation and sustainable development.

The two ministries agreed that they will exchange with each other scientific and technical information, jointly organise symposia, seminars, workshops and training, study tours, visit exchanges, and joint projects to demonstrate environmental-management approaches and technologies.
