Deputy Prime Minister and Permanent Secretary of the Government Saleumxay Kommasith recently visited the Lao-International Precious Metals Refinery in Dongphosi Village, Hadxaifong District, Vientiane Capital, to inspect its progress and observe its production processes.

He was welcomed by Chanthone Sitthixay, Chairman and Founder of the refinery, together with the management team. During the visit, Mr. Chanthone briefed the Deputy Prime Minister on the project’s development, advanced refining technologies, modern management systems, and long-term vision to achieve international production standards.
The refinery aims to operate in accordance with the standards of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA), a globally recognized benchmark for precious metals refining. Achieving these standards is expected to enhance product quality, strengthen international competitiveness, and add greater value to Laos’ mineral resources while supporting sustainable economic development.

The management team also guided the Deputy Prime Minister on a tour of the facility, showcasing its modern equipment, environmentally responsible production systems, and internationally aligned operational processes.
Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay commended the refinery’s commitment to building a high-standard processing facility and pursuing LBMA certification. He described the initiative as an important step toward shifting Laos from exporting raw minerals to producing higher-value refined products domestically.
He reaffirmed the Government’s support for the project and expressed confidence that it would contribute to elevating the Lao precious metals industry and strengthening its presence in international markets.
