Prime Minister Invites Greater Japanese Investment in Laos

KPL Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone used the Laos–Japan Business Meeting in Tokyo to encourage greater Japanese investment in the Lao PDR, highlighting opportunities in clean agriculture, manufacturing, renewable energy, infrastructure, logistics, and related services.

Addressing government officials and business leaders during the event, held on the sidelines of the 31st International Conference on the Future of Asia, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of expanding trade and investment cooperation between the two countries and creating stronger partnerships between Lao and Japanese enterprises.
He noted that existing frameworks, including the bilateral investment agreement and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), provide a solid foundation for business cooperation and investor confidence. He also praised Japanese companies for their high standards in technology, environmental responsibility, and human resource development.
The Prime Minister invited Japanese firms exploring overseas opportunities to consider Laos as a strategic investment destination, particularly in sectors aligned with the country’s green and sustainable development priorities and regional supply chains.
Officials at the meeting also highlighted the steady growth of Japanese investment in Laos across agriculture, manufacturing, services, and special economic zones, underscoring the continued strengthening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
