PM Monitors Flood Mitigation Efforts in Vientiane

ຂປລ On Sep 15, 2024, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone led a team of government officials and relevant authorities to assess the ongoing flood prevention and mitigation efforts along the Mekong River in Pak Ngum, Hadxayfong, and Sikhottabong districts of Vientiane.

(KPL) On Sep 15, 2024, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone led a team of government officials and relevant authorities to assess the ongoing flood prevention and mitigation efforts along the Mekong River in Pak Ngum, Hadxayfong, and Sikhottabong districts of Vientiane.
During his visit, the Prime Minister inspected the water drainage system at Huay Mak hiao in Pak Ngum District, where floodwaters are being managed to protect the capital from inundation. 
Following the inspection, the Prime Minister also met with local officials and rescue teams, distributing relief supplies to flood-affected residents and those working on flood response efforts.
Key stops included Simmano, Thapha, Sobhong-Kengpayang in Hadxayfong, and Phanman (KM4) in Sisatttanak District, where he observed the challenges and damages caused by the floods, engaging with residents and discussing their needs. The Prime Minister expressed concern over the well-being of those impacted.
The premier recognized the collaborative efforts of local authorities, military personnel, police, and volunteer rescue teams who have played a significant role in evacuating residents and securing livestock and property.
