(KPL) The Lanexang United Football Club has been crowded champion of the Laos Premier League 2016 after defeating former champ Lao Toyota FC 3-1 in a match on Oct 2.

The award ceremony for Laos Premier League 2016 was held at the Lanexang Stadium on Oct 5 in the presence of Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Mr Boualan Siripanya, Acting President of Lao National Football Federation Mr Paxatxay Philaphandeth, and President of Lanexang United Football Club Mr. Phanthachit Inthalath.

Lanexang United and Lao Toyota are the two teams leading far ahead of CSC Champa FC which is in the third place.

 Lanexang United has shown championship performance throughout the season as the best attacking team and at the same time as the best defending team, conceding only nine goals in twenty-two games. 

Last season, Lao Toyota had a 0-0 draw when they played an away game against Lanexang and they won their home game against the opponent with a score of 3-1.  Since they ended up in a tie on points, Lao Toyota FC won the Laos Premier League 2015 by winning the competition over Lanexang United.

The Champion of Laos Premier League 2016 will qualify to play in the Toyota Mekong Club Championship (TMCC) 2016 running from 5 November 2016 to 8 January 2017, during which they will play against Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar.

The champion from Laos will host the first match against the Vietnamese team in November 2016 at Chao Anouvong Stadium.
