KPL Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone attended the official launch of the Agro-Link Agricultural Trade Monitoring System in Vientiane Capital on May 28, 2026. The ceremony was also attended by senior government officials, including the Head of the Party Central Committee Office, the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, deputy ministers, the Deputy Head of the Prime Minister’s Office, and representatives of relevant ministries and sectors.

The Agro-Link system has been developed as a modern digital platform to strengthen the management, monitoring, and reporting of agricultural imports and exports. The system is designed to improve data accessibility, enhance coordination among relevant agencies, and support evidence-based decision-making in the agricultural sector.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Linkham Douangsavanh said the introduction of the system reflects the Government’s commitment to modernizing public administration and addressing longstanding challenges in agricultural trade management. He noted that the platform will facilitate more efficient inspection, monitoring, and reporting processes while ensuring timely and accurate trade data.
The minister emphasized that the initiative supports the Government’s national agenda on addressing economic and financial challenges and contributes to the implementation of Resolution No. 04 and Resolution No. 05 on building an independent and self-reliant economy. In particular, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has been tasked with promoting domestic production, expanding exports, and reducing dependence on imported agricultural products.

The Agro-Link system is expected to play an important role in achieving the targets of the 10th Five-Year National Socio-Economic Development Plan, including maintaining average annual agricultural growth of 4.1 percent, increasing the sector’s contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to 20.7 percent, and generating annual agricultural export revenues of USD 1.9 billion.
Developed through a partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and AIDC Company, the system provides an integrated platform for monitoring agricultural trade flows and facilitating information sharing among relevant stakeholders. It is expected to improve data accuracy and transparency, reduce administrative procedures, lower operational costs, shorten processing times, and enhance the overall efficiency of agricultural export management.
The launch of Agro-Link marks a significant step in the digital transformation of the agricultural sector and underscores the Government’s efforts to strengthen trade facilitation, improve sector governance, and enhance the competitiveness of Lao agricultural products in regional and international markets.
