KPL The final of the Lao PDR Prime Minister’s Cup 2025/2026 delivered excitement and celebration as Ezra FC successfully defended their title with an emphatic victory over Army FC on January 17 at Luang Prabang Provincial Stadium.

(KPL) The final of the Lao PDR Prime Minister’s Cup 2025/2026 delivered excitement and celebration as Ezra FC successfully defended their title with an emphatic victory over Army FC on January 17 at Luang Prabang Provincial Stadium.

The highly anticipated match was honored by the presence of Mr. Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister of the Lao PDR, who presided over the closing ceremony, witnessed the final in person, and presented the championship trophy to the winning side. Joining him were Mr. Thongsalith Mangnormek, Minister of Education and Sports, the Governor of Luang Prabang Province, senior officials, the President of the Lao Football Federation, and thousands of passionate football fans who filled the stadium with cheers.

From the opening whistle, the final lived up to expectations. Ezra FC controlled the tempo of the match and showcased their attacking strength, breaking through Army FC’s defense to secure a decisive 4–1 victory. The win confirmed Ezra FC’s dominance in the competition and marked their second consecutive Prime Minister’s Cup championship.

As champions, Ezra FC were awarded the championship trophy, gold medals, and a cash prize of 300 million Kip by the Prime Minister. Army FC finished as runners-up, receiving silver medals and a cash prize of 100 million Kip in recognition of their strong campaign.

Ezra FC’s outstanding performance throughout the tournament was further reflected in the individual awards. Mr. Byung-sung Na was named Best Coach for his tactical leadership, while Peter Phanthavong emerged as the tournament’s Top Scorer with six goals in five matches and was also honored as the Most Valuable Player. Goalkeeper Kop Lokphathip claimed the Best Goalkeeper award after conceding only two goals during the entire competition.

The Prime Minister’s Cup 2025/2026 kicked off on December 22, 2025, featuring 19 teams from across the country, including nine teams from Lao League 1 and ten teams from Lao League 2. The tournament served as a vibrant platform for showcasing the growing talent and competitive spirit of Lao football.

The successful conclusion of the tournament in Luang Prabang not only celebrated sporting excellence but also underscored the government’s commitment to promoting sports development and strengthening unity and pride among the Lao people through football.
