(KPL) The newly appointed Lao ambassador to Thailand formally presented his credentials to King Maha Vajiralongkorn during an audience at Ambara Villa on Feb. 11, 2025, reaffirming the commitment of Laos to further strengthen bilateral relations.
Mr. Sisavath Inphachanh presented his Letters of Credence from Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the Lao PDR, appointing him Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Thailand. He conveyed the President’s greetings and best wishes to the King, Queen Suthida and members of the Thai Royal Family.
The ambassador also conveyed condolences from the Lao leadership on the passing of Queen Sirikit.
During the audience, Mr. Sisavath highlighted the long-standing friendly relations between Laos and Thailand, noting that both countries marked the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025 through a series of commemorative activities.
He also cited the opening of the 5th Lao–Thai Friendship Bridge on Dec. 25, 2025, co-presided over by President Thongloun and the Thai monarch, as a significant milestone in strengthening connectivity and cooperation.
The ambassador informed His Majesty that Laos is preparing to welcome the King and Queen for an upcoming State Visit to the Lao PDR, expected to mark the first such visit in 32 years.
Mr. Sisavath reaffirmed his commitment to promoting closer cooperation and advancing the longstanding partnership between the two neighboring countries.
In response, King Maha Vajiralongkorn congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and expressed appreciation for the friendship extended by the Lao leadership and people.
His Majesty noted that Laos and Thailand share close, family-like ties rooted in mutual respect and confirmed readiness to undertake a State Visit to Laos in the near future. He also wished the ambassador success in his diplomatic mission.
