(KPL) Luang Namtha Province held its 9th General Meeting of the Provincial Party Cell on Aug 25–26. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Viengsavath Siphandone, who was announced as Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Khamphan Phommathat, Politburo Member and member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, along with representatives of relevant authorities.

Mr. Khamphong Inmany and Mr. Onchan Khamphavong were elected Deputy Secretaries of the Provincial Party Committee, while Mr. Bounthone Sisavanh was elected Chairman of the Provincial Party Inspection Committee. Mr. Chanthanom Khanthalath, Mr. Phuttasone Sihanak, and Mr. Phengtha Hakbounhome were elected Vice Chairmen of the committee.

In addition, the meeting elected 17 full delegates and three alternate delegates to attend the 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.

Addressing the meeting, Mr. Khamphan Phommathat urged the new Party Committee to strengthen solidarity and unity, uphold political responsibility, and lead efforts to implement the resolutions of the General Assembly effectively.

He emphasized the need to solve pressing problems, promote comprehensive transformation, and harmonize long-term strategies with urgent tasks.

He also stressed the importance of continuous consultation and coordination among provincial Party organizations, promoting the “Patriotism and Development” movement, and improving the effectiveness of the Lao Front for National Development, the Lao Veterans’ Federation, and other mass organizations.

Mr. Khamphan further called for stronger political inspection, and enhanced cadre capacity to ensure effective leadership. He urged the committee to widely promote political awareness and prepare thoroughly for the upcoming 12th National Congress of the Party by implementing the resolutions of the 9th Provincial Party General Assembly in a systematic and timely manner.
