(KPL) On July 19, The Chinese Cultural Center in Laos hosted a special event themed “Tea for Harmony” to promote the art and tradition of Chinese tea making and drinking. The event aimed to deepen understanding of Chinese tea culture—an ancient and refined practice that has been passed down through generations.

Participants were introduced to the philosophy behind tea drinking and the rich history of Chinese tea, with a focus on red tea, which is known for its health benefits. Red tea is considered especially beneficial for individuals with urinary tract issues, heart conditions, digestive discomfort, cold extremities, flu-like symptoms, or weakened health, particularly among the elderly.

Ms. Viengnakhon Vongvixay, an expert in Chinese tea culture, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the origins and evolution of tea in Chinese society. She also shared insights into traditional attire and makeup associated with tea ceremonies, and demonstrated the use of various tea-making utensils and techniques.

The event showcased a wide variety of Chinese teas, each with unique flavors and characteristics—including green tea, white tea, yellow tea, oolong tea, black tea, flower tea, fruit tea, and more. Participants were offered hands-on experiences to explore the sensory richness and health properties of different teas, contributing to a deeper appreciation of Chinese cultural heritage.
