(KPL/Prensa Latina)  Russia is working to diversify the range of vaccines supplied to Latin American countries, announced the director of the Latin American department of the Foreign Ministry, Aleksandr Schetinin, according to the TASS news agency. The note specifies that the director gave the information during a meeting of the Russian Minister of Public Health, Mikhail Murashko, with the ambassadors of Latin American and Caribbean nations accredited in Moscow.

Schetinin pointed out that the total volume of flu vaccines supplied to many countries of the region in the last decades amounted to more than 26 million doses.

At the same time he confirmed that we are working to expand the line of preparations, including new vaccines against influenza, as well as those for prevention and treatment of coronavirus infection, tuberculosis and dengue fever,” the diplomat said.

In addition, the senior official recalled that during the Covid-19 epidemic, Russia was one of the first countries to supply Latin America, “including free of charge, with test kits for the diagnosis of that disease and, subsequently, with vaccines”.

This was of special significance in the face of the vaccination selfishness shown by other states,” he said. “We know that in several countries of the region Russian supplies of vaccines allowed to stabilize not only the socio-epidemiological situation, but also to reduce internal political tension,” Schetinin added.

In turn, Deputy Health Minister Sergey Glagólev stressed that Russia is ready to supply other countries with a number of its own vaccines against infectious diseases, including monkeypox.
