(KPL) On the sidelines of the 19th Francophonie Summit, held in Paris, France, from October 4-5, 2024, President Thongloun Sisoulith met with Vietnamese President To Lam for a bilateral discussion.

During the meeting, both leaders expressed their satisfaction with the opportunity to engage in talks while attending the summit. They highlighted the significance of the occasion and reflected on the successful outcomes of President Thongloun’s recent official visit to Vietnam. They also underscored the importance of the annual Lao-Vietnamese Politburo meeting, which took place in Vietnam from September 10-13, 2024.

The presidents emphasized the value of strengthening the great friendship and special solidarity between the two Parties, states, and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.

They agreed to push their respective governments, ministries, and local authorities to effectively implement the agreements made during President Thongloun’s state visit to Vietnam and at the annual Lao and Vietnamese Politburo meeting. Key projects already approved by both sides were particularly noted as priorities for implementation.

Additionally, President Thongloun, speaking on behalf of the Lao Party, State, National Assembly, army, and people—especially those affected by the recent floods—expressed his deep gratitude to the Vietnamese Party, State, National Assembly, army, and people for sending a letter of sympathy and relief aid to support Laos in its recovery efforts, which are helping restore the livelihoods of flood-affected communities.
