(KPL) Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone expressed hope that the upcoming Summit of the Future, to be held in New York on September 22-23, will foster international cooperation.

He made these remarks on Thursday during a global video call promoting the event.

Prime Minister Sonexay spoke from Vientiane, with his speech featured on UN Web TV on September 12. The global call, initiated by the President of Namibia and coordinated by Germany, includes speeches by leaders of UN member states.

Mr. Sonexay praised the Summit of the Future, stressing its role in tackling global challenges and urging solidarity to strengthen international cooperation. He emphasized the UN's importance and supported an "international agreement for the future" to promote peace, development, and sustainability, helping achieve the UN's goals by 2030.

Lao and Chinese senior Party officials convened for their 12th Theoretical Seminar held in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, China, from December 16-20. The seminar is part of the 2024 annual cooperation plan between the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and the Communist Party of China (CPC). The Lao delegation was led by Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoun, along with Khamphanh Pheuiyavong, Secretary of the LPRP Central Committee Secretariat, Head of the Propaganda and Training Board, and President of the Theoretical Council of the LPRP Central Committee.
