Attapeu Governor Phetvanthong Kongmany, along with senior officials of the province, warmly received Australian Ambassador to Laos Megan Jones and her accompanying high-level representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of National Defense, and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Laos on September 3.
(KPL) Attapeu Governor Phetvanthong Kongmany, along with senior officials of the province, warmly received Australian Ambassador to Laos Megan Jones and her accompanying high-level representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of National Defense, and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Laos on September 3.
During the visit, Ambassador Jones expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and outlined the purpose of her visit, which included inspecting health programmes funded by the Australian government.
She also participated in the inauguration of a malaria screening project for asymptomatic individuals in Samakkhixay District. This project is funded by the Australian Defense Force Malaria and Infectious Diseases Institute.
The ambassador also visited a vaccination project in Sanxay District and discussed future cooperation in public health, agriculture, and industrial development.
The governor highlighted the province’s potential in various sectors, encouraging further Australian investment and collaboration.
Governor Phet expressed deep appreciation for Australia's continued support, particularly in health-related initiatives, and expressed hopes for further cooperation to help Attapeu’s economic and social development.
