(KPL) Temporary shelters in Luang Namtha Province are urgently seeking clean drinking water, food, clothing and other essential supplies after flooding affected 34 villages on August 29–30, 2026.

On August 30, Lieutenant General Khamking Phuilamanivong, Party Secretary and President of the Luang Namtha Provincial People’s Council, led provincial officials on visits to temporary shelters at the provincial indoor stadium, the Provincial Public Security Hospital and the Nam Tha Bridge area in Ban Mai to assess conditions and encourage affected residents.

At the Provincial Public Security Hospital, 71 residents from Ban Pung, Ban Pasak and Ban Mai villages are currently staying at a temporary shelter established for flood victims.

Lieutenant Colonel Ounkeo Singdavy, Deputy Director of the hospital, said the shelter is facing shortages of drinking water, water for daily use, food, cooking ingredients and clothing.

Provincial authorities have encouraged affected residents needing shelter to use the facility and appealed to organisations, businesses and the public to provide relief supplies to support flood victims.
