(KPL) Following the announcement of the results of the first plenary session of the Saravan Provincial Party Committee, on August 7, Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Chansamone Chanyalath urged the province to promptly address pressing issues, particularly economic and financial difficulties, and to improve the people’s living conditions.He emphasized the need for a clear and focused development plan aimed at building a self-reliant and independent economy with tangible results. The province should strive to maintain an average annual economic growth rate of 6.7% and raise annual per capita income to over 23 million kip per year.
He called for continued efforts to develop rural areas, eradicate poverty, and attract more domestic and foreign investment in various sectors to diversify income sources.
Cooperation with neighboring countries and international organizations should be enhanced to produce practical outcomes. Priority should be given to investment in processing industries and to improving infrastructure, such as roads and bridges, to meet required standards.
The Deputy Prime Minister also stressed the importance of developing cultural and social sectors, focusing on achieving sustainable development indicators in education, health, and social welfare, as well as addressing unmet targets.
He underlined the need to manage, train, and develop a skilled workforce to meet the labor market’s needs, create employment opportunities, and prevent unemployment and labor migration abroad.
Training should ensure a high-quality, diverse workforce capable of supporting socio-economic development.
He urged provincial leaders to preserve and promote the nation’s and locality’s cultural heritage, develop tourism, and enhance tourism promotion. He also called for advancing rural development, and effectively implementing poverty eradication programmes and the “Three Builds” initiative.
On this occasion, Gen. Chansamone also urged the newly elected Saravan Provincial Party Committee to continue strengthening socio-economic development, improving people’s quality of life, ensuring universal access to quality education and healthcare, and maintaining social peace and order.
