(KPL) On July 26 in Vientiane, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith co-chaired the ASEAN-Australia Foreign Ministers' Meeting. He also led the delegation in the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meetings with various dialogue partners, including China, New Zealand, Japan, the EU, Republic of Korea, India, Russia, the UK, and Canada.

Timor-Leste Partners with HWPL Launching Peace Education

(KPL) On July 16, the international peace organization HWPL signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Ministry of Higher Education of Timor-Leste and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with six higher education institutions. (KPL) On July 24, 2024, in Vientiane, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith, chaired three major meetings namely: the Meeting of the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone Commission, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Interface with the Representatives of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights, and the 1st Informal Consultation on the Implementation of the Five-Point Consensus of ASEAN leaders between former, current, and future ASEAN Chairpersons.

(KPL) An ASEAN Senior Officials' Meeting was held in Vientiane on July 23, presided over by Mr. Thongphane Savanphet, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Leader of ASEAN Senior Officials' Meeting of the Lao PDR.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by the Founding Fathers of ASEAN: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Brunei Darussalam joined ASEAN on 7 January 1984, followed by Viet Nam on 28 July 1995, Lao PDR and Myanmar on 23 July 1997, and Cambodia on 30 April 1999, making up what is today the ten Member States of ASEAN.
