(KPL) A signing ceremony was held at the Embassy of Bangladesh to Laos, based in Hanoi, Vietnam, for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

The MoU was signed by Mrs. Khamphao Eunthavanh, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam, and Mr. Md. Lutfor Rahman, Bangladeshi Ambassador to the Lao PDR, with diplomatic staff from both embassies witnessing the event.

The signing of this MoU strengthens the foundation of friendly relations between the two foreign ministries. It aims to promote and enhance bilateral cooperation in various mutually beneficial areas, particularly political, economic, and social domains.

It also establishes a mechanism for regular high-level consultations, reinforcing the shared vision of both countries to build a prosperous future together.

Both sides expressed confidence that the MoU will contribute significantly to regional stability, development, and foster mutual understanding and solidarity between the Lao PDR and Bangladesh.

The MoU will also serve as a platform for experience sharing, lesson learning, and exchange of views on regional and international issues of common interest. Moreover, it will act as a framework for future cooperation between the two countries.

The Lao PDR and Bangladesh have enjoyed 37 years of diplomatic relations since 1988. Over the years, their partnership has steadily grown, with ongoing mutual support. In 2013, the two countries signed a visa exemption agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders.
