(KPL) The World Bank’s Regional Vice-President of the East Asia and Pacific Region Tuesday approved US$18 million for the Lao PDR to help the country respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Lao PDR COVID-19 Response Project supports preparedness and emergency response activities including infection prevention and control, case detection and contact tracing, case management and risk communication.

(KPL) On April 6, a total of 119 Japanese citizens and their families boarded a special flight operated by Lao Airlines and have now arrived safely in Japan.
Due to recent travel restrictions and cancellation of international flights caused by the spread of COVID-19, there were many Japanese, both residents and tourists, who could not leave the Lao PDR and was seeking assistance in returning to Japan.

(KPL) No Covid-19 has been confirmed today. As a result the number of infection cases in the country currently stays at 10 including 7 in Vientiane Capital and 3 in touristy Luang Prabang. There has been no deaths related to Covid-19 in the Lao PDR.
