The number of people testing positive for Covid-19 in the Lao PDR has reached 14, a press conference was told this afternoon.
The latest case was identified as a student, 19, who met another female student whose covid-19 infection was confirmed yesterday prior their departure for Laos.
The 13th case is a 40-year old worker at Phu Bia Mining Company who has reportedly caught the virus from the Papua New Guinea man (11th case) when the two were working together on Mar 30-31.
Students returning from United Kingdom in March are highly advised to contact the Ministry of Health to get an advice at phone No. 020 5406 6777 along with those travelling with Thai Airways’ TG 574 from Bangkok to Vientiane on Mar 22 especially those sitting close to seat No K14.
Yesterday, samples from 73 infected suspects have been tested for Covid-19 including 59 from Vientiane and 14 from provinces. Only two of these tested positive for Covid-19.
Covid-19 has infected more than 1.35 million people and killed more than 74,800 people worldwide, according to Johns Hopkins University and Medicines.
