(KPL) Lao media outlets in cooperation with the People's Daily of China have organised an interview on the implementation of the "Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
President of the Lao Journalists’ Association, Savankhone Razmountry recalled the cooperation between the Lao and Chinese media over the past years, noting that the cooperation is getting closer with mutual exchange of visits regularly maintained, and both sides demonstrating to the world the successful implementation of BRI.
“China-proposed BRI is regarded as an important and meaningful strategy that helps the Lao PDR transform from a landlocked country into a land-linked country so that the two countries are connected and grow harmoniously,” Deputy Director General, Lao News Agency Mr. Vilay Manirath said on Jun 6.
The development of the Laos-China Economic Corridor has supplemented the role of Laos-China railway as a main artery, promoting economic activities, especially tourism, investment, production and trade, and making the Lao PDR an attractive hub for foreign investment. The railway has increased GDP growth in tourism sector by 2.1%, foreign trade by 2.9%, foreign investment by 3.6%, and the whole economy by 0.32%-0.43%, Mr Vilay continued.
Editor-in-Chief of the Paxaxon Newspaper Vanxay Tavinyan said that over the past decade, the BRI has created great opportunities and benefits for many countries in the world, bringing closer partnership relations and path of unity and togetherness, allowing the countries to grow together, thus creating a community of shared destiny for mankind.
Editor-in-Chief of the People's Daily of China, Mrs Ma Xiaoning said that the purpose of the joint interview was to show people in China beautiful images of Laos and the successful stories of China in order to strengthen bond between the two nations and harmonize in development according to their aspirations to bring utmost benefits to the people of the two countries.
