(KPL) The Ministry of National Defense commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of South Vietnam in a ceremony today, chaired by Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyễn Minh Tâm. 

The event was attended by Senior Lieutenant General Thongloy Silivong, member of the Lao Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of National Defense, alongside leaders from key military departments, corps, and senior officials. 

In his address, Ambassador Nguyễn Minh Tâm hailed the liberation and reunification of Vietnam as a historic milestone, ending decades of colonial rule and heroic struggle. He emphasized Vietnam’s progress over the past 50 years, highlighting its post-war recovery, economic reforms, and growing international stature. 

“Vietnam is committed to peace, prosperity, and global cooperation,” he stated. “We will strengthen ties with all nations, uphold our role as a responsible international partner, and support overseas Vietnamese contributing to the homeland’s development.” 

The ambassador paid tribute to President Hồ Chí Minh, fallen soldiers, and revolutionary leaders who secured Vietnam’s independence. He also thanked Laos and the international community for their solidarity during Vietnam’s liberation struggle, particularly the Lao People’s Army and multiethnic Lao people.
