Laos’ export-import value reaches US$ 15 billion

KPL (KPL) Laos’ foreign trade value for 2022 has reached over US$ 15 billion, an increase of 7.5% year on year, the annual meeting of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce was told on April 6.

(KPL) Laos’ foreign trade value for 2022 has reached over US$ 15 billion, an increase of 7.5% year on year, the annual meeting of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce was told on April 6.

Laos’ export value was estimated at US$ 8.19 billion as the import was logged at US$ 6.80 billion. 

With export value higher than imports, Laos could enjoy a trade surplus of US$ 1.39 billion. 

Held in Vientiane on Apr 6-7, the meeting was attended by Minister of Industry and Commerce Malaythong Khommasith, his deputies, representatives of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, enterprises affiliated to the ministry, provincial departments of Industry and Commerce. 

The meeting aimed to review achievements made over the past twelve months and set targets for 2023. 

The participants focused their discussion on the management and supply of fuel, goods and service price management, commercial production promotion, and funding access for micro, small and medium enterprises - MSMEs.
