Laos Signs MOU for Solar Energy Project in Two Provinces

(KPL) The government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with AB Construction and Shaochun Hung Heuang Co., Ltd. to conduct a feasibility study for a solar power project in Bolikhamxay and Sekong provinces on March 26, 2025.

The agreement aims to explore the potential for solar energy development in Pak Kading, Bolikhamxay (4,013 hectares), and Laman, Sekong (1,662 hectares). The project seeks to ensure high-quality feasibility studies and efficient implementation while considering energy conservation and sustainability.

Attending the signing ceremony were senior government officials, including Dr. Insyxiengmai Sthabandith, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment; Chansavang Bounyong, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines; and provincial leaders from Bolikhamxay and Sekong. Business representatives included Sern Xiang, Chairman of AB, and Zhong Haihui, CEO of Shaochun Hung Heuang Co., Ltd.

AB Construction, founded in 2009 under Lao law, has contributed to infrastructure development for over 16 years. Shaochun Hung Heuang Co., Ltd., established in 1998 in China and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2016, specializes in advanced computing and telecommunications.

This collaboration is expected to drive economic growth, improve energy infrastructure, and support environmental sustainability in Laos.
