KPL The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a warning about Tropical Storm Yagi (YAGI), the 11th storm of 2024. As of 7:00 AM on September 8, the storm's center was located at 21.2 degrees north latitude and 104.9 degrees east longitude, with maximum winds near the center reaching 65 km/h.

(KPL) The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a warning about Tropical Storm Yagi (YAGI), the 11th storm of 2024.

As of 7:00 AM on September 8, the storm's center was located at 21.2 degrees north latitude and 104.9 degrees east longitude, with maximum winds near the center reaching 65 km/h.

The storm is moving westward at a speed of 10 to 15 km/h and is expected to weaken into a depression by this evening. The storm is forecasted to pass through Phongsaly Province in northern Laos tomorrow morning.

As the storm weakens, it will bring widespread rainfall across the northern regions of Laos. The affected provinces include Phongsaly, Huaphan, Xieng Khouang, Oudomxay, Bokeo, Luang Namtha, Luang Prabang, Xayaboury, as well as the capital Vientiane, Xaysomboun, Vientiane Province, Borikhamxay, and Khammuan. Rainfall will range from moderate to heavy, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds in certain areas from September 8 to 10, 2024.

Residents and local authorities across the country are urged to remain vigilant and prepare for potential impacts, such as landslides, flash floods, and rising water levels, particularly in urban areas. The public is advised to stay updated with weather forecasts from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.
