Laos, Türkiye Explore Cooperation to Empower Women

KPL The Lao Women’s Union (LWU) and Türkiye have discussed expanding cooperation to improve livelihoods and strengthen opportunities for women, youth and children.

(KPL) The Lao Women’s Union (LWU) and Türkiye have discussed expanding cooperation to improve livelihoods and strengthen opportunities for women, youth and children.

On August 24, 2026, Mrs. Ali Vongnorbountham, President of the LWU, received Ms. Oya Yazar, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Lao PDR, during a courtesy visit.

Mrs. Ali welcomed the ambassador and outlined the LWU’s roles and responsibilities, while expressing appreciation for Türkiye’s previous support, including equipment and financial assistance.

The two sides discussed future cooperation in several areas, including training women to establish small and medium-sized enterprises, supporting development projects for women, youth and children, and providing vocational training for disadvantaged women in remote rural areas.

They also discussed monitoring students who received scholarships from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) after completing their training, as well as other areas of mutual cooperation.
