(KPL) Buriram United FC of Thailand was crowned the champion of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2016 following its win over rival Lanexang United with the score of 2-0.
(KPL) Buriram United FC of Thailand was crowned the champion of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2016 following its win over rival Lanexang United with the score of 2-0.
The team was awarded a trophy for the Toyota Mekong Club 2016 and US$75,000 in cash.
The first runner-up, Lanexang United of Laos, was awarded US$50,000 in cash and an additional US$3,000 prize for outstanding play.
Buriram United gained the 2-0 victory over Lanexang United during the final leg of the competition which was held at Thammasat Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on 8 January 2017.
During the first round of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2016, Lanexang United beat Buriram United FC in a 1-0 victory at Chao Anouvong Stadium on Jan 4.
Buriram United FC was crowned champion of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2015.
President of Lanexang United Mr Phanthachit Inthilath has apologized to the fan club for failing to bring the championship back home, but assured them that they did their best in the match against the Buriram United FC.
