During his working visit to Champasak Province on 10 June 2026, President Thongloun Sisoulith participated in a tree-planting activity at the Sonam Daeng (Red Field) area in Phonkung Village, Pakse City.

The activity was organised to encourage and mobilise people across the country to actively participate in the protection, management, and development of forests and the natural environment, with the aim of creating a greener, richer, and more sustainable future.
The tree-planting event also sought to raise awareness among children and young people about the importance of forests and natural resources. Forests play a vital role in protecting soil and water resources, preserving biodiversity, and reducing the impacts of climate change — functions that cannot be replaced by human intervention.

The event was attended by Alounxay Sounnalath, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Champasak Provincial Party Committee, and President of the Provincial People’s Council, along with the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, President of the Provincial Administration Organisation, and members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee.
On the occasion, General Secretary Thongloun Sisoulith also presented gifts to local schoolchildren.
