KPL Heavy rainfall has caused flooding and flash floods in several areas of Oudomxay Province, inundating roads, farmland and homes as water levels in local rivers and streams continue to rise.

Heavy rain began overnight on August 29 and continued through August 30, causing rapid rises in the Nam Kor, Nam Xae in Namor District and Nam Phak rivers in La District.
Oudomxay Provincial Administration Chairman and Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Vongsavanh Xayavong led an inspection of affected areas on the morning of August 30. The delegation monitored water levels at several locations in the provincial capital, including Ban Na Lao, Ban Nong Maeng Da, the Ethnic School, Ban Lak 4 and the Provincial Department of Education and Sports.
Flash flooding was particularly severe along the Nam Faen waterway in Ban Bor, Xay District, where strong currents swept away several homes and caused extensive damage.
Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable areas to move belongings and livestock to higher ground and remain alert to further flooding. Relevant agencies have been instructed to prepare emergency assistance and closely monitor weather and river conditions.
