UNICEF Lao PDR and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) yesterday signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) to strengthen collaboration in the education sector and support the Government of Laos in advancing its education priorities.
The agreement was witnessed by Sanjay Wijesekera, UNICEF Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific; Ms Yuko Mitsui, Senior Vice President of JICA; and Dr Lavanh Vongkhamsane, Director General of the Cabinet, Ministry of Education and Sports.
The MoC aims to strengthen cooperation between UNICEF and JICA in improving learning outcomes, strengthening education systems and supporting early childhood education.
It also seeks to promote the mobilisation of resources for the education sector, helping to support the Government’s efforts to improve the quality and accessibility of education across the country.
Through the strengthened partnership, UNICEF and JICA will continue working with the Government of Laos to address key education priorities and contribute to better learning opportunities and outcomes for children.
