(KPL) Laos is stepping up preparations to implement the National Agenda on Rural Development and Poverty Eradication, with key programmes and projects expected to begin in 2027.
From August 24–26, 2026, the Department of Rural Development and Poverty Reduction under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment held a meeting to review and build consensus on implementation documents. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Mr. Kikeo Singnavong and attended by relevant central sectors and members of the National Agenda secretariat.
Participants reviewed the draft National Action Plan, including specific programmes, projects, activities and budgets targeting poor households, villages and districts.
They also discussed guidelines for coordinating implementation from the central to provincial and district levels to ensure clear responsibilities and effective delivery.
The meeting’s outcomes will provide a basis for the Government’s submission to the 2nd Ordinary Session of the 10th National Assembly later this year. Key programmes are scheduled to begin in early 2027 and continue through 2030.
