Lao Kaiyuan Donates 27 Tonnes of Fertiliser to Local Villages in Thakhek

KPL Lao Kaiyuan Mining Co., Ltd. has donated 27 tonnes of high-quality compound fertiliser, valued at 900 million kip, to residents across seven villages within its project area in Thakhek District, Khammuan Province.


The handover ceremony took place on 3 June 2026, aimed at supporting wet-season agricultural production and boosting crop yields. The beneficiary communities include the villages of Lammalad, Khokhed, Yangkom, Tha-ngam, Thadeua, Nongpheu, and Nongmiang.

The event was attended by Mr Somvichith Vongthilath, Head of the Khammuan Provincial Department of Industry and Commerce, alongside relevant provincial and district officials, and leaders from the seven villages.

Mr Wang Bing, Deputy Managing Director of Lao Kaiyuan Mining Co., Ltd., stated that the company has consistently adhered to its core philosophy of "joint development, shared benefits, and mutual growth". He emphasised the company's ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its continuous collaboration with local authorities to drive community development.

Since commencing operations in Khammuan Province, the company has played a pivotal role in local socio-economic development. To date, Lao Kaiyuan has contributed over US$200 million in taxes and duties to the Lao government, generated employment for more than 10,000 workers, and invested over US$11 million in local social development projects.

"This fertiliser donation is another significant initiative demonstrating our commitment to promoting agricultural production, generating income for local residents, and building strong, sustainable communities," Mr Wang said.

He further reassured stakeholders that the company would continue to invest in public infrastructure, rural development, and agricultural livelihood programmes to improve the quality of life for residents in the project area and neighbouring communities.

On the same occasion, Lao Kaiyuan Mining Co., Ltd. also presented the 2026 Annual Village Development Fund, worth 70 million kip, to the seven villages to further support local infrastructure and public utility projects.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Somvichith Vongthilath expressed his gratitude for the company’s sustained social contributions. He urged leaders of the seven recipient communities to ensure the transparent and efficient distribution of the fertiliser to local farmers, maximising agricultural productivity and sustainably improving livelihoods.
