President Thongloun Sisoulith and his spouse joined celebrations marking the 101st anniversary of International Children’s Day and the 46th anniversary of National Tree Planting Day at Vieng Kham Primary School in Sikhottabong District, Vientiane Capital, on June 1.

The event brought together Party and State leaders, government officials, teachers, youth, and children to celebrate the occasion and promote child development, environmental protection, and social responsibility.
Speaking at the ceremony, Souliya Kheuphilavong, Deputy Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union Central Committee, highlighted the Party and Government’s continued commitment to protecting, nurturing, and developing Lao children, while preparing them to become responsible citizens and contributors to national development.

He noted ongoing efforts to strengthen youth development through improved legislation, updated youth programmes, and national activities, including the successful organization of the 6th National Youth Camp Gathering. To mark International Children’s Day, a range of activities were organized, including tree planting, the distribution of educational materials, science quizzes, cultural performances, and a short-drama competition promoting drug prevention awareness among children and youth.

During the event, President Thongloun and his spouse presented educational supplies, sweets, and snacks to children and joined participants in planting trees, reaffirming the importance of environmental conservation and investment in the country’s younger generation.
