KPL The Lao Ministry of Health has moved to strengthen healthcare standards nationwide by approving a draft revised policy on quality accreditation for health services, known as the “5 Goods, 1 Satisfaction” policy.

The meeting, organized by the Department of Health Care and Rehabilitation, was held in Vangvieng District with support from the LuxDev through the Lao-Dev 035 Health and Nutrition Project.
Dr. Bounserth Keoprasith said improving hospital service standards at both central and provincial levels remains a key priority under the government’s Phase III and IV Health Sector Reform Strategy.
The “5 Goods, 1 Satisfaction” policy has been in use since 2016 and serves as a framework for improving healthcare facilities across the country. Officials said revisions are needed to make the policy more concise and practical, with clearer indicators for implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
The meeting also reviewed criteria for the “Champa Flower Hospital Quality Award,” which is expected to encourage hospitals to improve services and competitiveness as the health sector moves toward greater financial self-management.
