On July 30, 2025, Mr. Bounthong Chitmany, Vice President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, warmly welcomed General Luong Tam Quang, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, along with his delegation, during their goodwill visit to the Lao PDR.

(KPL) On July 30, 2025, Mr. Bounthong Chitmany, Vice President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, warmly welcomed General Luong Tam Quang, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, along with his delegation, during their goodwill visit to the Lao PDR.
The visit coincided with the handover ceremony for the construction of a treatment and rehabilitation center for drug addicts in Vientiane Province, as well as the official launch of the digital citizen identification system and card in the Lao PDR.
Vice President Bounthong expressed his sincere appreciation for General Luong Tam Quang's leadership in visiting and working in Laos, and commended the Vietnamese delegation for their role in the success of both the handover and launch ceremonies. He emphasized that these achievements mark an important contribution to further strengthening the special solidarity, friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States, and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.
He also underlined the significance of the close collaboration between the Ministries of Public Security of both countries and encouraged continued mutual support to advance the development of their respective ministries' work.
Vice President Bounthong also extended heartfelt thanks to the Government of Vietnam and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam for their consistent support, particularly in the construction of the drug rehabilitation center and the implementation of the digital ID card system in the Lao PDR.
In response, General Luong Tam Quang expressed his deep gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by Vice President Bounthong Chitmany. He highlighted the fruitful outcomes of his visit, including participation in the handover of the rehabilitation center and the launch of the digital ID system—both of which he described as milestones in the growing cooperation between the two nations.
