(KPL) The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare has taken a major step toward improving occupational health in Laos by partnering with the Vientiane-Beijing Medical Center Limited.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on July 4 between Mr. Phongsavanh Xaykosy, Director of the Department of Labor Management, and Mr. Zhai Dalun, Director of the Center for Health Examination of Domestic and Overseas Workers. The signing was witnessed by Deputy Minister Mr. Phongxaysack Inthalath and representatives from both sides.
The agreement aims to strengthen collaboration between public and private sectors to improve annual health check-ups for workers and boost the overall occupational health and safety system.
Under this partnership, the medical center will conduct health examinations and assist in compiling workers’ medical data into the Department’s centralized database. The information will be used for research, policy development, and ongoing health monitoring of workers throughout their employment.
Officials noted that the collected data will help ensure accurate and fair assessments of work-related illnesses, guide employer responsibilities, and support benefit entitlements under the Social Security Fund.
“This collaboration shows our commitment to protecting workers’ health and rights,” said Mr. Phongsavanh, adding that the agreement will contribute to a safer, more resilient labor force across the country.
The partnership reflects the government’s growing focus on health-centered labor policies and sets a strong example of effective public-private cooperation.
