(KPL) Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune, who oversees cultural and social affairs, delivered a lecture on the 70th anniversary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP).
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Public Security Lt. Gen. Kongthong Phongvichit, along with other deputy ministers, members of the Party Standing Committee and Party Committee of the ministry, department directors, the commanding committee, and senior police officers from the Ministry of Public Security. Representatives from the Vientiane Public Security Headquarters were also present.
The lecture aimed to deepen attendees’ understanding of the Party’s history, achievements, and major victories over the past 70 years.
DPM Kikeo highlighted that since its founding on March 22, 1955, the Party has provided resolute and strategic leadership, guiding the multiethnic Lao people in their struggle against powerful colonial forces.
Despite facing adversaries with superior manpower, weaponry, and technology, the Party, through its clear-sighted leadership and the unwavering patriotism of the Lao people—bolstered by international support—led the nation to victory, achieving national liberation and proclaiming its independence and sovereignty on December 2, 1975.

Following the national liberation, under the Party’s guidance, the Lao people have united in solidarity to safeguard and develop the nation, achieving significant progress in political stability, national defense, public security, and socio-economic development.
DPM Kikeo emphasized that over the past 70 years, the LPRP has demonstrated strong, scientific, and decisive leadership, steering the nation through struggles for independence, socialist construction, and national development. This leadership has improved people's livelihoods and elevated Laos’ role on the international stage.
He also noted that while the current political landscape presents both opportunities and challenges, it is crucial for all Party members, government officials, security forces, and the Lao people to remain committed to the Party's principles, protect national interests, strengthen unity, and advance socio-economic development to build a strong and prosperous nation.
The lecture served as a significant occasion to reflect on the Party’s historical achievements, reaffirm commitment to its leadership, and inspire future generations to continue safeguarding and developing the country.
