Laos, Brunei Continue to Promote Bilateral Cooperation

ຂປລ (KPL) During the 57th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and related meetings held in Vientiane from July 21-27, 2024, Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, met with Mr. Dato Erywan Pehin Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam, on July 24, 2024.

(KPL) During the 57th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting and related meetings held in Vientiane from July 21-27, 2024, Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, met with Mr. Dato Erywan Pehin Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam, on July 24, 2024.

They discussed enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation, focusing on strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Laos and Brunei Darussalam.

Both sides praised the achievements of their 30-year cooperation, highlighting the steady progress in various development sectors. They noted the elevation of Laos-Brunei cooperation to a strategic partnership, marked by the state visit of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah to Laos in 2023.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed and reaffirmed the outcomes of the 2022 Memorandum of Understanding on Agricultural Cooperation. Brunei is currently exploring ways to import agricultural products from Laos, particularly rice, in the near future. They also discussed and exchanged views on other regional and international issues of common interest.
