(KPL) A delegation from the Yunnan People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries visited Laos from October 15–17 to strengthen cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between Laos and China, with a focus on education, healthcare, culture, tourism and border communities.
Led by Yang Sheng, a Level 2 Inspector of the association, the delegation visited Laos at the invitation of the Central Lao-China Friendship Association.
On October 16, the delegation paid a courtesy call on Xaysana Sitthiphone, Deputy Minister of Technology and Communications and Vice President and Secretary-General of the Central Lao-China Friendship Association.
Xaysana welcomed the delegation, saying the visit would contribute to strengthening the longstanding friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperation between Laos and China, as well as advancing the two countries’ community with a shared future.
He proposed establishing practical cooperation mechanisms to encourage people, businesses and organisations in Laos and Yunnan Province to expand exchanges in education, public health, arts and culture, tourism and other fields.
He also emphasised closer interaction between communities along the Laos-China border, including mutual visits, consultations and joint activities, particularly on important occasions for the two countries. Such cooperation would help maintain a peaceful, friendly and cooperative border that supports development.
Yang thanked the Lao side for its warm welcome and outlined the association’s activities and objectives. She reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Central Lao-China Friendship Association and serving as a bridge for exchanges and collaboration across various sectors.
Both sides expressed support for practical cooperation mechanisms to translate their shared commitment into closer people-to-people ties and mutually beneficial exchanges.
