(KPL) “The sale of fake land deeds has become a hot issue in seven districts of Vientiane Capital,” said Director of the Vientiane Natural Resources and Environment Department, Mr Bounhome Leuangsavath.
The fake land deed problem has spread to several districts including, Sikhottabong, Naxaithong, Chanthabouly, Xaythany, Hadxaifong and Xaysettha, as well as Vientiane Capital, Mr Bounhome disclosed on 23 June.

(KPL) “The Lao government will do its best in investing in a basic infrastructure system along the East-West Economic Corridor, especially Road No 9 in Laos to meet the ASEAN standards in order to facilitate the regional production network including trade, investment, transport and tourism,” said Mr Somdy Douangdy, the Minister of Planning and Investment.
The road represents the government’s effort to create favourable conditions for commerce, investment and transportation for GMS countries, the minister noted.

(KPL) Nine producers of construction-related materials and organic cosmetics from the Republic of Korea are seeking market opportunities in Laos ahead of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) integration.
They are now looking for local importers or sales agents to sell their products in the country, according to an official from the Korea Business Centre (KOTRA) of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.

(KPL) The government has pledged to grant more than 600 tonnes of rice seeds for rice farmers devastated by grasshoppers in Luang Prabang Province and has agreed to purchase the grasshoppers a the price of 4 million kip (almost US$500 ) per ton from the farmers.
This assistance comes after grasshoppers devastated almost 2,000 ha of rice farms in the two districts of Pholthong and Viengkham in Luang Prabang Province.
Presently, a team of planting staff dispatched by the government is collecting accurate information and making efforts to prevent similar outbreaks in other areas.

(KPL) Minister of Planning and Investment Somdy Douangdy has said that economic growth over the past six months of the current fiscal year (Oct 2014-Apr 2015) was estimated at (GDP) 7.5%, and value addition was around 100,000 billion kip (over US$12 million).
Gross domestic product (GDP) per capita was 14 million kip, equivalent to US$1,857, a seminar was told yesterday.
During the last six months, over 5,600 state investment projects were approved with a combined total of around 7 trillion kip (over US$850 million).

(KPL) The Lao government has declared its intention to launch ten new hydropower dams nationwide amid ASEAN member countries’ desire to import many thousands of megawatts of energy from Laos.
The development of energy is designed to respond the demand of light and heavy industries, services and the ongoing growth of accommodations.
This was asserted during speeches by the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines, Mr Khammany Inthirath during his working visits to Huaphan, Xieng Khuang, Xaysomboun and Vientiane Provinces early this month.

(KPL) Four companies have announced their presence at the Savan-Seno Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at a ceremony held on 10 June at the economic zone in the presence of Deputy Minister and Vice President of the Lao National Committee for Special Economic Zones (NCSEZ) Ms Bouatha Khattiya, and relevant officials.
The four companies include the law consulting company Savan TVS Consultant Co., the real estate company Lao NISHI MATSU Construction Co., a representative office of TOYO ROZAI Co., and a representative office of the NIPPON KOEI Co.

(KPL) The Lao Securities Exchange (LSX) plans to list more than 25 companies nationwide by 2020 to ensure that they have financial liquidity thus contributing to socio-economic development, according to its CEO, Mr Vanhkham Voravong.
Mr Vanhkham told a seminar in Vientiane on Monday that the hydropower, energy and service industries are the most likely to be listed on the LSX.
Two companies are expected to be listed on the LSX by the end of this year and include Sitthi Logistics Lao Co., and Souvanny Trading Import-Export Sole Co Ltd.

(KPL) Around 400 representatives from enterprises, companies, banks, and financial institutes of Laos and Thailand met in Vientiane Capital yesterday to discuss improving Lao Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and enhancing their competitiveness in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
The half-day seminar was held at the Lao Securities Exchange (LSX) in Vientiane Capital under the chairmanship of the Minister to the Government Office and Director General of the Office of the Government Secretariat, Mr Phouphet Khamphounvong.

(KPL) The Lao World Public Company (Lao World) has provided almost 150 billion kip (over US$18.5 million) to build roads and bridges in Vientiane Capital.
An agreement on the financial assistance for infrastructure edevelopment projects took place in Vientiane on 11 June between Vientiane Mayor Sinlavong Khoutphaithoun and the President of Lao World Public, Mr Xokxay Vongmanasith.
The financial support from Lao World will be used to build a bridge over the Nam Ngum River between Ban Nabong and Ban Thakokhai in Pakngum district, a stretch of road, and three bridges over the Hongseng canal in Xaysettha District, Vientiane Capital.
