At the Office of the Party Central Committee, General Vilay Lakhamfong, Member of the Politburo of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Public Security, received a courtesy call from Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Member of the Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, during his official working visit to the Lao PDR.

(KPL) At the Office of the Party Central Committee, General Vilay Lakhamfong, Member of the Politburo of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Public Security, received a courtesy call from Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Member of the Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, during his official working visit to the Lao PDR.
General Vilay Lakhamfong highly appreciated the visit and expressed sincere thanks for the warm greetings conveyed by the senior leadership of Vietnam. He particularly acknowledged the congratulatory message from the Standing Member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) on the occasion of his appointment as Standing Member of the Secretariat of the 12th Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP).
During the meeting, General Vilay briefed the Vietnamese delegation on the successful outcomes of the 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, which was held under the theme: “Enhancing the Party’s Strong Leadership, Actively Building an Independent and Self-Reliant Economy, and Continuing to Strengthen the People’s Democratic Regime toward Socialism.” He emphasized that the Congress marked an important political milestone, opening a new phase in the comprehensive renovation process of the Lao PDR.
Both sides expressed high appreciation for the enduring relationship of Great Friendship, Special Solidarity, and Comprehensive Cooperation between Laos and Vietnam. They agreed to continue strengthening political trust through regular high-level exchanges, expand cooperation across all sectors for tangible mutual benefits, and remain committed to preserving and nurturing the special bilateral relationship so that it remains evergreen and everlasting, regardless of regional or global changes.
On this occasion, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong congratulated the Lao side on the success of the 12th National Congress of the LPRP and extended congratulations to General Vilay on his new appointment. He also conveyed warm greetings from Mr. Tran Cam Tu, Standing Member of the Secretariat of the CPV Central Committee.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong further informed his host about the outcomes of his meetings with the External Relations Board of the LPRP Central Committee, which focused on preparations for upcoming high-level visits between the two Parties and States. He also provided updates on preparations for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, scheduled to take place from January 19–25, 2026, noting that organizational and logistical arrangements are nearing completion.
On the same day, Mr. Bounleua Phandanouvong, Member of the Party Central Committee and Head of the External Relations Board, held a separate working session with Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong. In addition, Mr. Valaxay Lengsavad, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Head of the External Relations Board, met with the Vietnamese delegation and representatives from relevant Lao ministries to discuss the implementation of high-level agreements and the promotion of cooperation between the External Relations Board of the LPRP and the Party Committee of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
