KPL The Ministry of Defense dominated the tug-of-war competition at the 12th National Sports Games in Vientiane Capital, winning four gold medals across five categories.

(KPL) The Ministry of Defense dominated the tug-of-war competition at the 12th National Sports Games in Vientiane Capital, winning four gold medals across five categories.

The finals and medal ceremony were held on 23 November 2025 at the Vientiane Secondary School grounds, attended by Mr Arunkaew Kittikun, President of ASEAN Tug-of-War and head of the Lao National Tug-of-War Federation, along with Vientiane Secondary School Director Mr Thongphan Ulaithon, committee members, athletes and supporters.

The Ministry of Defense secured gold in the Women’s 4-person, Men’s 8-person, Women’s 8-person and Mixed team categories. Vientiane Capital won the remaining gold in the Men’s 4-person event.

Results by category:

Men’s 4-person team (≤300 kg): Gold – Vientiane Capital; Silver – Ministry of Defense; Bronze – Attapeu Province

Women’s 4-person team (≤250 kg): Gold – Ministry of Defense; Silver – Vientiane Capital; Bronze – Attapeu Province

Men’s 8-person team (≤600 kg): Gold – Ministry of Defense; Silver – Vientiane Capital; Bronze – Attapeu Province

Women’s 8-person team (≤500 kg): Gold – Ministry of Defense; Silver – Vientiane Capital; Bronze – Luang Namtha Province

Mixed team (4 men, 4 women, ≤650 kg): Gold – Ministry of Defense; Silver – Vientiane Capital; Bronze – Attapeu Province

The event concluded the tug-of-war contests held from 18 to 23 November.
