(KPL) Between October 13 and 16, General Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Cambodia, led a high-level delegation on an official visit to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to further enhance defence cooperation between the two countries.

The official welcoming ceremony took place on October 14 at the Ministry of National Defence in Vientiane, hosted by Lt. Gen. Khamlieng Outhakaisone, Minister of National Defence of the Lao PDR, and attended by senior officers from both sides.

Following the ceremony, the two defence leaders held bilateral talks to review the implementation of previous agreements and to exchange views on future cooperation. Despite the current global challenges, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the long-standing friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two armed forces.

The two parties agreed to continue close coordination in maintaining peace, stability, and security along the Lao-Cambodian border; promote exchanges and mutual visits between military units and border communities; and deepen cooperation in areas such as training, information exchange, and socio-economic development in border areas.

They also pledged to enhance joint efforts in combating transnational crimes, human trafficking, illegal immigration, and illicit trade; expand collaboration in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief; and participate in trilateral military cooperation with Vietnam, particularly through the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Disaster Relief Exercise.

During the visit, General Tea Seiha and his delegation are scheduled to attend the Trilateral Disaster Relief Exercise at the Logistics Academy of the Lao Armed Forces in Nam Houm, take part in the trilateral defence ministers’ meeting, lay a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldiers in Dao Daeng, and visit the Kaysone Phomvihane National Defence Academy.
