Lao National Assembly President Extends Congratulations on 47th AIPA Anniversary

KPL The President of the National Assembly of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), Mr Xaysomphone Phomvihane, has delivered a congratulatory video message to commemorate the 47th Anniversary of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).


(KPL) The President of the National Assembly of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), Mr Xaysomphone Phomvihane, has delivered a congratulatory video message to commemorate the 47th Anniversary of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

In his message, Mr Xaysomphone expressed his heartfelt congratulations to all AIPA Speakers and Parliamentarians.

He acknowledged AIPA’s significant contributions over the past 47 years, particularly in advancing peace, stability, and prosperity across the ASEAN region. “As the legislative body representing the rights and interests of the ASEAN people, AIPA has enjoyed continuous growth and has played a crucial role in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in ASEAN,” he stated.

This year, the Lao PDR National Assembly is honored to host the 45th AIPA General Assembly under the theme: “The Role of Parliaments in Enhancing Connectivity and Inclusive Growth of ASEAN.” Mr Xaysomphone expressed confidence that the discussions during the assembly would help deepen cooperation among AIPA member parliaments and further the implementation of the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025.

He emphasized the importance of digitalization in uniting the ASEAN region and promoting sustainable development to ensure that the benefits reach all ASEAN peoples and contribute to global integration.

In concluding his message, the Lao National Assembly President extended his best wishes to the AIPA members, wishing them continued success in achieving their objectives. He also expressed hopes for the ongoing growth of AIPA in the years to come.

The ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly serves as a platform for legislative cooperation among ASEAN member countries, fostering dialogue and collaboration on key regional issues.
