Feasibility Study to Be Conducted for Expressway Project in Luang Namtha Province

(KPL) A ceremony to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the feasibility study of an expressway project from the Boten International Checkpoint to Nateuy in Luang Namtha Province took place on October 27, 2025, in Luang Namtha.

The agreement also covers projects for the construction, upgrading, and maintenance of National Highway No. 13 North (from the Oudomxay provincial border to the Boten International Checkpoint, covering 18 km) and National Highway No. 13 R (from the Nateuy village T-junction to the Bouamphiang village T-junction in Luang Namtha District, covering 28 km).

The MOU was signed between the Luang Namtha Provincial Administration and Lan Xang Bridge-Road Construction Sole Co., Ltd.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Onchan Khamphavong, Deputy Governor of Luang Namtha Province; Mr. Anixay Soukhavong, President of Lan Xang Bridge-Road Construction Sole Co., Ltd.; and other officials concerned.

Mr. Chanthachon Keolakhon, Head of the Bridge and Road Sector of the Luang Namtha Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport, said the purpose of the MOU is to collect data and conduct a feasibility study for the expressway construction from the Boten International Checkpoint to Nateuy.

He added that the Lan Xang Bridge-Road Construction Sole Co., Ltd. has been authorized to survey and identify the proposed route for the expressway (a new alignment) to ensure effective management, monitoring, and follow-up of all tasks during the feasibility study phase.

The project will be implemented in full compliance with the relevant laws and regulations of the Lao PDR, with the study period set for 18 months.
