(KPL) Since its first donation in 2006, The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has contributed over US$17 million for the construction of basic infrastructure in Vientiane Province which has greatly contributed to the province’s steady economic growth.
KOICA started began its work in Vientiane Province in 2006 and has assisted in the development of education, public health and clean water supplies, agriculture, and the construction of irrigation systems and roads.

KOICA started began its work in Vientiane Province in 2006 and has assisted in the development of education, public health and clean water supplies, agriculture, and the construction of irrigation systems and roads.
Presently, KOICA is carrying a number of rural development projects in 17 villages in the districts of Viengkham, Phonhong, Hinheup and Keo-Oudom.
On 30 August, in recognition of the great contributions to the development of Vientiane Province, Vientiane Governor, Mr Khammieng Phongthady offered a certificate of merit to the KOICA President, Mr Kim Yong Mouk who has actively mobilised funds to help Laos and particularly Vientiane Province.The handover ceremony was witnessed by Vientiane Deputy Governors, the Republic of Korea Ambassador to Laos and officials concerned from both sides.
Mr Kim has pledged to continue assisting Vientiane Province and has called for full cooperation to ensure that aid projects are effectively implemented.
