A two-day training session for female candidates standing for election to the 10th National Assembly (NA) and the 5th Provincial People’s Assemblies (PPA) concluded successfully on February 3, 2026. The training was held from February 2–3 in Vang Vieng District, Vientiane Province, with the aim of preparing candidates for election campaigning and meetings with eligible voters ahead of the upcoming polls.

The training was chaired by Mrs. Thoummaly Vongphachanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, and Chairperson of the Women Members of the National Assembly Committee. Participants included female candidates for NA and PPA membership from the central level and 10 northern provinces: Phongsaly, Luang Namtha, Oudomxay, Bokeo, Luang Prabang, Xayaboury, Houaphanh, Vientiane, Xieng Khouang, and Xaisomboun.
During the training, participants studied both theoretical and practical topics, including the roles, rights, and duties of the National Assembly and Provincial People’s Assemblies, as well as those of their members. The programme also covered basic social etiquette, public speaking skills, body language, appropriate attire when meeting voters, and techniques for building confidence during media interviews. In addition, the training featured media interview simulations, question-and-answer sessions, and constructive exchanges of experiences and opinions.
On this occasion, Mrs. Sounthone Xayachack, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the National Assembly, and National Election Commissioner, highlighted the significance of the election and the importance of campaigning by candidates for the 10th National Assembly and the 5th Provincial People’s Assemblies. She noted that the election is a crucial opportunity for women to further develop their capacity, enhance their quality and value, and build confidence and motivation among the public and organisations at all levels.
The training aimed to ensure that female NA and PPA candidates gain practical knowledge and lessons that can be effectively applied in preparing for campaign activities ahead of the election scheduled for February 22, 2026.
